Artist's Biography

Born in Moscow; father a soldier, mother an actress. 1943

Left with parents during the occupation of Germany where his father was a colonel. Lived in Dresden until 1957.

Returned to Russia; entered l' Ecole de Peinture Repine. 1957

Discharged from l' Ecole de Peinture Repine. 1959

Odd jobs; factory worker, street cleaner, dockworker at the Musee de l' ermitage. 1961

First exhibit of paintings at the Club l' Etoile. Lasted 15 days with great success. Met his wife, Rebecca. 1963

Exhibit at the Musee de l'Ermitage. Exhibit closed after 3 days and museum director lost his position. Birth of his daughter Dorothee. 1964

After being unable to find work, took a position as night watchman at l'Academie de Peinture. Exhibition of graphics and illustrations of Dostoyevsky and Hoffman at the Club Etoile. Closed after two days. 1965

Exhibition of painting and engravings at the Conservatorie Rimsky-Korsakoff. 1966

Major exhibit in Novosibirsk at l'Academie des Sciences. 1967

Publication of award winning first book, "Les Epigrammes Espagnols". 1970

Publication of second book and opening of exhibit of prints at la Galerie Dina Vierny, Paris. 1971

Exhibit, "Grands et Jeunes d'au jourd jue", at the Grand Palais, Paris. 1972

National Fine Arts Exhibit at Grand Palais, Paris. 1973

Exhibits in Kunsthalle Winterthur, Zurich; Galerie J.C. Gaubert, Paris; Grand Palais, Paris. 1974

First Prize, Concours Nichido, Paris. 1975

Exhibits, Galerie Nichido, Tokyo, Nagoya and Osaka. 1975
